With each company, there are additional factors that must be considered when helping to relocate expatriates. These details can be discussed at a later time, but they can affect pricing and service offerings, so you should be aware of them.

Housing needs

  • In which areas do you find housing for your expatriates?
  • Do you prefer that they rent an apartment or purchase a home?
  • Do you have a realtor you prefer we work with to find housing for your expatriates?
    • We have great realtors through COWA we can recommend if the option is open.
  • What is the housing allowance for most transferees?

Banking needs

  • Is there a bank of your preference that the expatriate opens an account with?
  • Do you have a good working relationship with a bank that will help you expedite processes without an immediate social security number (SSN)?
    • We have solid relationships with banks in the Detroit suburbs.
    • We can also help with getting a mortgage, car loan, or lease if necessary.

Location of main office/other administrative offices

  • Do you have any mileage and driving time guidelines?
  • Do you have any specific offices that the expatriate should get their driver’s license or social security number (SSN) from?

Temporary housing/hotel

  • Where will the expatriate and his family stay for pre-trips and for temporary housing until they can move into their permanent housing?

Insurance Needs

  • Health — What is the situation with health insurance for your expatriates?
    • Will they have the full range of choices in choosing a physician, or are there limitations?
  • Is there an insurance company you prefer we work with for car or renter’s insurance?

Transportation

  • Will expatriates be given a company car, or will they be exploring leasing/buying options?
    • Is there a car allowance available?
  • Will they have a rental car provided to them at the airport for trips prior to their final arrival?

Schooling Needs

  • Do the expatriates families plan on sending their children to public or private schools?
    • Is there a school allowance available?
  • Can we help to arrange English as Second Language courses (ESL) for expatriates?
    • We can help coordinate any ESL needs of family members.
